Default Running warm

My 2014 Captiva Sport , 2.4L, 53k miles mostly highway was always running around 180 degrees even on very hot days with a/c on. Lately it raised to around 185. Today it was up to 190 at 62 mph - 1900 rpm into a 15 mph headwind, 32 degrees. Then on the interstate at 73 mph- 2200 rpm no headwind it was in the 185 area. I used a infered temp gun the area by the top hose and was close to dash reading. At what temp should the electric fan be running? Is there a way to test fan and relay? Thanks for any help.

That's not "running warm". Your car is fine.

190 is low. operating temp is around 194 and up to 198 is still pretty normal

it won't be running when you're at highway speed because it won't do anything.
