A mechanic recently stole my catalytic converters from my 2012 Chev Captiva LTZ AWD 3l V6. Am I correct that the car will not operate at 100% capacity without cats? The car has no power and the engine light is on.

 

If he stole it call the police. Your car was designed to run with a catalytic converter. This man needs to be in jail.

 

He was arrested and thrown in jail on Friday. I now need to gather further evidence as requested by the state prisecutor, hence the question.....

 

What the hell was he thinking? As a Tech/Mechanic, he knew your ECM would detect the loss of the catalytic converter, which in most states has to be there and working. Get this criminal _THIEF_ in Prison where he belongs!! How the hell does someone get this stupid? Your ECM needs the data from the oxygen sensors to operate properly. He should have known that, but where are his credentials?
