Hello All. I have a problem with my 02 Cavalier. It is a 4cyl with an auto transmission It will not turn over by using the ignition switch, but if I cross the solenoid at the starter it fires right up. I am thinking maybe the park/neutral safety switch. Is there anyway I can bypass or check the safety switch to see if that's the problem?
It was starting up just fine until I changed the front struts. after I finished changing them, I started the car and test drove (everything was fine). about an hour later I went out and it wouldn't start with the key. Moved the gear shift from park to neutral and back and forth, wouldn't turn over So I crossed the solenoid and started right up. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
