So i was driving about 50mph and the trac off light came on and when i stopped at a stop light it turned off. Started driving again and it came back on about a mile later then shut off again when i stopped. I did feel a little shimmy at the same time almost like a very light misfire is the best i can describe it. Im at a loss

 

have the chassis codes read. that is the starting point. full function scan tool required. a code reader cannot access chassis codes.

 

Mine's been doing that for many years - I could care less. My CEL has also been on for years - I don't care. The car runs fine, I keep the oil and fluids clean — that's all that matters. Worrying about that stupid light on a 20-year-old car is pointless.
An yes, I do all my own repairs and maintenance. (CEL has been on on my wife's car for many years also.)
