I have an '03 Chevy Cavalier. Cranked it up one day, ran fine, no issues. Came out two days later and attempted to crank it and it cranks but won't turnover/start. First couple of tries had a slight burnt ozone/electrical smell to it and a made a few "clunking" noises, now nothing. Just turns and won't start. Can only try a couple of times before battery drains and dies. Fuel pump is coming on, fuel pressure ok. My Dad tried to jump last time he was up to see if he could identify what was going on and had no luck. Borrowed a OBDII tonight and tried to pull codes on it, gets to "Scanning kpw2" and then reads "read error". Battery is super low (dome lights on, but dim, but not enough juice to turn over). Not sure if reader throwing error because battery so low, or what. Any ideas?

 

charge the battery and try your the scan tool again. check for spark with a spark tester if no dtc are set.
