Default 2000, Z24, with issues, HELP

Daughter went to McDonald's and parked the car. Came out and put it in Reverse, then in Drive, but when she put it in drive it kept going in reverse. So she put it in 3 and the car was able to go, and she pulled it back in to the parking spot. When she put it in park the car kept going forward like the car was in neutral. she called me I went there and no matter what position you put the stick it's like the car is in neutral. Was wondering if anyone has had this issue. Also the TRAC OFF light was on as well.

Welcome to the forum. The shift cable may have come undone. The cable goes between the shifter assembly in the center console and shift actuator on the transaxle.

It's hard to tell. The center console is held in place with screws. There's usually a hidden screw or two as well. On the transaxle end, the shift actuator is on the driver side. You may need to remove the air cleaner duct. Once you get there, recognizing what and how something is broken is another matter.
