2001 Cavalier Intermediate Shaft (Steering)
Hi everyone.
I just purchased a 2001 Cavalier and it has the clunk/knock sound/feel in the steering column. I’ve done a bit of research and have determined that the cause may be insufficient (or dried out) lubricant in the steering intermediate shaft. How difficult is this to remove? All other components seem to be in good shape. Also any tips on changing the oil filter? I was able to change it using a filter nut and a ratchet wrench but I ended up making a mess when the filter started draining. I had to swap filters from the top of the engine compartment. This reminds me of my 1982 Olds Ciera with the 4 cylinder engine.
Thanks much.
