Default 07 Burban 2500 Upper Steering Column Intermediate Shaft

I finally got around to seeing the dealer for the razor-blade door handles and the recall work for the washer fluid heater. We're still negotiating on the cracked dash--my District Specialist wants me to come out of pocket for $500. As suggested, I threw them a bone by having them reprogram the radio and do a wheel balance/tire rotation and inspection.

They inspected and--sure enough--found something. That minor clunk noise I've gotten used to is the upper steering column intermediate shaft. Estimate is $350. For another "known GM problem." GM Parts Direct has these for $59.33. The LIST price is $101.85. So...two-fifty in labor???

I looked at the manual, looked at the truck, then looked at the manual again. It doesn't seem to be that difficult a job. Has anybody here done one of these on an '07 or newer, and have any advice?

Default Anybody?

Figured I'd give it another try before I order the part and spend next weekend under the beast. If something doesn't fit right and I can't straighten it out by 6 AM on Monday, I'm screwed.

HI,
I dont know about the 07 but the dealer fix cost on a burban 2500 06 model was about 270.00.
I thought they would have permenantly fixed that part since older years had such an issue with this part. The only comment I can say is I hope you are skinny there in not much room under my stearing wheel.
