Default 2002 Vin: F 2.2 interference or non?

As title states, I have a 2.2 Vin: F that recently had the timing guide break. Not sure if it jumped time or not. But if it did are these engines interference or non?

Welcome to the forum

From everything I could locate it looks to be interference.....
Here it says the L61 engine which in the attached picture shows as VIN F

Hopefully Tech2 will see and respond, he is pretty knowledge on these type questions...

Service Information 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier | Cavalier, Sunfire
Service Manual | Document ID: 1480369

#PI00434A: 2.2 L61 Engine Crank , No Start - kw break broken chain cylinder head knock lubrication no noise nostart nozzle oil timing - (Mar 22, 2004)

Subject: 2.2 L61 Engine Crank No Start

Models: .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:
Engine will crank but not start, also makes noise while cranking. Condition may be caused by a broken timing chain.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Install service kit p/n 12578218 which includes:
A. A new S-Pin Chain p/n 24461834

B. A constant (no check valve) lubrication nozzle p/n 12577163

C. And drive parts.

Repair after a broken timing chain should include inspection of the cylinder head, the L61 engine is a valve interference engine (not free spinning).

you right in2pro, they are interference.

At this point is it just rattling bad or a no start?

The chain guide shattered, (the long straight one.) I believe when that happened the car died And haven't tried to cranked over since. I haven't done any kind of test to check or even really look if it jumped time.

Also, it's going to be a chain driven water pump right? And I guess while I'm in there I should replace the balance shaft?
