2004 Cavalier CD player not working

My CD player will play a CD for about 2 or 3 minutes, but then starts skipping and making weird noises. Then it says ERR and ejects the CD. What is the problem?

are you using a burned cd or an orginal cd?

if it is a burned cd I could understand why. If it is a oringal cd then it must have a short in it and you will either have to check the wiring or get a new cd player.
