Hi all. Does anyone on here have a connection to find the mechanical odometer gear for a 97 Cavalier. I'm having a hard time finding it. I've tried Junk yards but they were in non working order. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

When the odometer on my 02 Cav stopped working I also looked for the mechanical drive only to discover that there isn't one. The car has an electronic odometer controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module). After I installed the new BCM the odometer worked fine. However, the BCM also controls the radio and security functions and if you buy a new BCM it must be programmed to suit your car, but almost no one can or will do that anymore. So, rather than forgo listening to music while driving I continue to use the old BCM, I write my estimated mileage in a notebook and fuel up accordingly. However, I do plug in the new one month or so before getting the car inspected. This also helps to calculate and confirm my typical driving distances.
Great car. Very reliable and easy to work on. Even after 160K (estimated!) it still burns no oil at all.
