Hi -

I have a 2001 Cavalier and tonight when backing out of a parking spot. I was turning the wheel to the right and felt some resistance. Upon turning the wheel harder I heard a pretty noticable'click'from between the steering wheel and column (on the top of the column)

After, the airbag light came on and is staying on solid.

I have not tried disconnecting the pos+ battery cable and touching it to the neg- side yet...is that recommended?
Any guess on what part I may have broken?

Sounds like the clock spring got stuck and maybe snapped the ribbon cable in it. Take it intoa shop and have them scan the codes in the airbag module to find out why the light is on.
