Answer for the "SERVICE ABS" Lights popping on
I want everyone to know what I discovered. I have a 2005 Cavalier, and for several years I have been dogged by the two lights popping on when I put in in gear to start off. The "Service soon" light and the "ABS" light. I have heard that this is a problem for a long time, and heard that the fix is to replace the sensors in the ABS system at each wheel. Then I talked to a knowledgeable mechanic, and he told me to just go out and find a dirt road. drive along and slam on brakes, activating the ABS, several times, and Presto, problem solved. He said that sensors get dirty and start warning you. Most mechanics use that to sell new sensors, but you don't need them. I tried it, and sure nuff, the lights have not gone back on, and it has been 6 months ago. I wanted everyone to know this and please, spread the word to other Cavalier forums. This will save everyone a lot of grief and money. Wallace in Georgia
