i have a 2002 chevy cavalier 2.2l OHV base model. and i have to replace the cam shaft. i have the block tore down and the lifters out but no matter how much i pull and twist the cam shaft i can only get it to come out about an inch. i was wondering if i am forgetting to do anything? and if i am what am i forgetting? any help is greatly appreciated

maybe remove the oil pump drive , remove 1 hold down bolt and pull it out. replace the o ring also
