Default Cavalier 95 lot of new pieces and still not working

Hi,

i just bought my first car this week,

i was not sure about getting a old 95 car but the car is like new ,the ex owner did a oil protection job every year and he got only 65 000 km on

so i took it.

the battery is new from january 2010
the oil job is new from this week

the sparkling the starter and the alternator are new from yesterday.

the problem is :

after a 5 minutes run all of a sudden he stop...and if someone dont boost me it dont start back

to do the rest of the 3 minutes to go back home we did 5-6 boosts.

after the car is cold again the car need to be on boost from a other car to start

as soon we unplug it he die after a couples of minutes

we even with a full charge battery

we check and try a lot of things

but since its not our job

im feeling dumb cuz i paid for insurances and all the others papers so now i got a non working car in my drive way

somebody had a problem like that in the past ???

So when you boost the car, it runs for a few minutes and then dies. On a new battery?

Have you checked the alternator?

The alternator is responsible for charging the battery and does so while the car is running. With it improperly functioning, the car will only stay running long enough to drain the battery. You are 100% sure that its good? Just because its new doesnt mean that its working. I've had alot of bad parts right out of the box. Maybe get that tested first.

Hi fastflipper,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

Let's start with basics. Have you had the battery tested? It probably wouldn't effect the vehicle while it's running unless it's totally clunk-o.

How are the battery cables? The battery bolts? The Engine-to-Firewall ground strap? If they're original, 16 years of corrosion could be taking it's toll.
