Default Cavalier Governor, Computer...

How do you get a Crapalier to go past 108 mph? I have a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier, 5-speed manual and the speedometer goes to 110 mph. I tried several times to get it past what the speedometer goes to...I know it should be possible because I don't even come close to redlining it (5,500 rpm's), it is at roughly 3,500 rpm's at 108 mph. I believe the car is governed by a code in the computer? I know it sounds stupid to take a bone stock cavalier, stock suspension and everything to go past 108 mph.

On the 1st gen cavs - they said the cruise control would work to get around that. Not sure about 2nd gens.

Interesting. Since it is a manual you could probably just interrupt the speed sensor to bypass the governor. Never tried it on mine. And it certainly will not work on automatic. I personally ride my Jaguar V-12 when I feel the need for speed, it will hit 170+ easy.
