Angry Engine wants to die when any accesories are turned on

Alright, some of you may have seen my post below about a 97 Cav with a hesitation problem...

It's gotten a little stranger.

It ran great for me all week long and then on Saturday it started 'bucking' while driving.

I found that if I turned off the accessories (heater, lights & such) the car would smooth right out and regain power.

Now, that's a problem as I live North of Detroit and it's FREEZING up here...

I certainly can't drive without a heater and with the short days, not without lights.

Now, I know you guys are going to say; "Check the Alternator" and I have swapped it out with a pretty-sure-is-good alternator and have the same problem.

I can even get it to do it just sitting idling. Just sit there after it's warmed up, rev the engine and it will sound fine, add an accessory or two (like the heater & the lights at the same time) and the engine will act like it's going to stall.

HELP!!!!
I have to work tomorrow.

Thanks,
Dizturbed

Sounds like a ground issue. check battery terminals, and where the battery cables attach to the body and engine. If you are unsure of where they are, just add a ground from battery to the motor, and add another to the body......You can't have too many grounds so don't worry about that

Got a brand new alternator (the old one DID test bad), BUT I still have the same problem...

Battery was disconnected for over a 1/2 hour, so the computer should've reset too.

UGH!!!!

SHAWN...YOU ROCK!!!!

I put a ground strap to the body and another to the engine itself and...

PROBLEM GONE!!!!

Thank you so much.
I just wanted to let everybody know that some of us DO let you all know the end result.

SUCCESS!!!!

I've driven it to work twice now (at 170 miles each trip) and had no problems at all like before.

Take a tip from a successful repair, CHECK YOUR GROUNDS!!!!!!

Have a good one,
