I have a 2000 Cavalier with 150k miles. Its a 2.2 Liter engine and it will not start at all. I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine just stopped, couldnt accelerate at all the lights were working so it couldnt have been the battery. A roadranger came by to help and unscrewed the intake and sprayed something in it and the car started for a min or so and died out again and he also rearranged the relays.A week or so before that I completly ran out of gas. People have been telling me that its the fuel pump but I hear it a little when I turn the key. The filter was replaced a little after that.

What I really want to know if there could be something else wrong with it besides the pump?

PLEASE HELP!!!

 

sounds like the pump is tyring to pump but its just too pooped to do anything.
check the fuel pressure at the schrader valve and go from there

 

yep, the pump might be getting weak. would be a good place to start.

 

Well took the car to a shop and it was the fuel pump module that had gone bad!
