Default Key fob not working?

I just replaced the housing on the key fob for my 05 Cavalier because the original housing was broken and held together by a rubber band. The new housing is exactly the same and it's the same internal computer chip and a brand new battery, but now it doesn't work whereas it did before. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I tried wedging a piece of paper towel in between the battery and the inside of the housing to give it some more pressure and it still doesn't work. The housing is aftermarket, so I guess I just got a bad one. Thanks for the reply, though.
