Default little black box

Can someone please tell me what a little black box is behind the glove compartment & is beside the blower motor on my 2004 Cavalier? It has a small 2 wire plug & next to impossible to get too. It was making a knocking noise so puled the plug. Everything seems to work but it must do something.
Thanks
Larry

Nothing comes to mind. Can you post a photo please? Are there any part numbers stamped into it?

There's no way, I could only see it using a mirror & light while trying to fit my head under the dash. I could probably get at it through the back of glove box if I made a 3" hole . BUT you can't remove the box without taking half the dash out.

it's probably an actuator for one of the HVAC doors getting stuck. So if you want to fix it, you'll have to disassemble anyway.

Yea that's what I was reading, the HVAC control door. The only way I'd deal with it is cut through the back of the glove box, then making a plastic repair panel. Taking that dash apart in order to remove the glove box is crazy. Anyway thanks for the reply.
