Newbie Cavalier Transmission Confusion--abounding!

Newbie Cavalier Transmission Confusion--abounding!
I have an 1989 Chevy Cavalier 2.0--but cannot determine if I have a transmission modulator (Autozone) or transmission solenoid (O'Reily's).
Do I trek to Advance and let them break the tie?
Moreover.....I've crawled under the car to view for myself--and see nothing resembling either a modulator or solenoid.
FUBAR, Cavalier mates.
Can someone put me out of my misery? Or enlighten me?
