I recently purchased a 2003 cavalier and the radio was previously replaced and doesn't work without antenna. I noticed today the radio was turning on/off by itself and my gauges light came on which caused my gauges to move up and down. Plus my service light and anti theft light comes on. What should I do?

 

Radios need the antenna to work. Sounds like you might have a bad electrical connection somewhere. I would start by checking the battery cables for looseness and corrosion at both ends.

 

the battery is new and the cables are tight. Where would I go to check if it's electrical?

 

I've seen the radio cable on some vehicles become filled with water, shorting the antenna out. Not the Cavvy but others.
