Have a 69’ El Camino SS 396 4-speed, the car has been repainted from the original color and I am looking at putting it back. I’m having trouble finding out when El Caminos came with the horizontal black trim piece across the tailgate and is that associated with a certain option that came on the car? Any insight would be appreciated.
my 68 Elkie (not an SS, but Malibu) has the two trim strips like your blue pic and in between was a fake wood grain "stick on stuff". Many years ago it got brittle & deteriorated and peeled off like old brittle plastic. Still have the trim strips and like the look better than with the wood grain stuff
