Question Carb to manifold spacer

Hi Guys, Is there a spacer I'm missing or need on my '64 283 between my 2 bbl carb and intake manifold? The bolt pattern on the intake measures 3 1/4" left-to-right and 1 7/8" front-to-back, but my GM carb measures 3 5/8" left-to-right and 2" front-to-back. I had a spacer on my '65 327 4 bbl but don't remember having one on the 2 bbl. Or do I have a wrong intake?
Thanx, Dean

I would find a carb that matches the intake.
