Default hoping someone can help

Ok I have a 1981 Chevrolet el Camino with a 350 in it.
lately its been cutting out on me.I first thought it was the battery or something but it only does it at slow miles.Like I'll be driving and it'll be fine till I hit a stop light or a stop sign then it dies on me.I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.So any help would be appreciated.

its a carb with a manual choke I adjusted the carb earlier it idles a little nicer but still keeps dying on me.I replaced the fuel filter less than 2 months ago.I have about a quarter tank of fresh gas in it.It's weird though that only when I slow down does it start dying.

If the engine's got a lot of miles on it,(100k+), and it starts ok cold and runs but refuses to start hot, assuming the choke is not a factor, have a mechanic look at the heads. The valves on my old 350 only acted up when it was hot, as soon as it got cold, it was off to the races. I used to be terrified I'd accidentally turn the engine off, and be stuck for three hours. A compression test with the engine cold and hot should verify this problem before you decide to do any work.
