So I have been in the market for a nice classic squarebody chevy/gmc truck . Have my old trusty 94 silverado still but I found a project 1974 Cheyenne Super 30 Dually crew cab ( 3+3) with a 454. The seller says its a rare truck. I agree there are probably not too many like this but how exactly do I find out how many were produced like this for 1974? The seller says that only 117 regular cab cheyenne 30 dually's were made that year but how does the seller know this? Just trying to find out how rare this dually cheyenne is really. I do not have the vin to do any kind of vin code checking at the moment. I'm just curious ..either way I like the truck and will probably go get it if the price is right. Truck is not running, been sitting for 10 years, looks like someone swapped it from automatic trans to standard, , interior needs a lot of resto, needs dash, door panels , upholstery, etc. but basically truck is all there, not a 4x4. Any ideas how I can find out production numbers more or less? The seller is a lady who inherited this truck after her grandfather passed and admits she knows nothing about trucks or car for that matter, so where did she get this 117 number for a regular cab cheyenne dually. She swears this truck totally restored is worth 95k... i told her it maybe very valuable restored to concours condition but not 95k. It would take 30k +in parts and restoration services and DIY labor to get it to concours condition. Again she does not know much about cars or trucks. Even a good guess of how many came off the line like thisis ok for me. What do you guys think?
