I'm interested in buying a 1992 Chevy K1500 regular cab step side with only 92000 original miles on it. Today one of my friends told me that all the step side trucks of this era used weaker drivetrain and suspension components than the fleet sides. This doesn't seem like it would be true but I don't know much about these trucks so I figured I'd ask some people who do. Thanks in advance.

The base of the trucks are the same... the bed is effective a bolt on item...
My original 93 regular cab Step side started out as a fleet side...
They didn't have a regular cab step side in stock but did have the extended cab step side... I didn't want the extended cab at the time so they pulled the step bed off and put it on the truck I wanted and Viola! regular cab step side...
