Better Gas Mileage than a Denali/Tahoe?
I am interested in purchasing an 07 Tahoe but the only thing keeping me away is the Gas Mileage, I know people who drive Denalis and Escalades and average like 11 mpg(Mix of City/Highway), now due to the fact that these trucks both have a 6.0 380 hp engine and the Tahoe has like a 5.3 320 hp engine, does the Tahoe get better Gas Mileage? thanks.
Started out at 11-12 in town with short commutes. Only one hwy mi trip at about 2,500 and got about 16. After about 4K, was getting 13.5 and then switched to Mobil 1, started getting 14. But with the really cold weather, dropped to 11.5, partially due to short warmups (remote start is just too easy). I've seen posts on other forums where people were still seeing improvements up to about 7,500.
These are all calculated figures. The DIC figures are close but tend to run a little higher, like about 0.5-0.9 mpg.

Not to be a smart a$$, but the Denali and the Escalade both come with 6.2 liter engines (403hp for the Escalade). Needless to say they are in a completely different performance class, so they are bad exmaples to compare gas mileage to.
I am still breaking in my tahoe and I am averaging 14-16 around town and about 18-19 on the highway(Calculated by hand using the same gas pump). Not too bad for a heavy vehicle if you ask me.

So would the Tahoe basically be getting the same MPG as a Mid Size SUV like a BMW X5? Also does the Avalanche get better MPG? and how much would MPG be affected if I put 24 in. rims on? thanks
i commute everday on average 60 to 70 miles and i get 16 to 17 miles to the gallon driving about 70 to 75 miles an hour. i have 9000 miles on the hoe. hope this helps
I have an 07 Denali w/ 13k miles on it. The wife averages low 14's on mixed 30%city, 70%hwy but she uses remote start religiously and is impatient. I've gotten 20 a few times on the highway, but I was patient. On a long trip to nebraska I averaged 17 with a heavy foot and averaging 90mph. A few other things to consider: I have the factory 20's and the Denalis & Escalades are AWD (I'm sure most people know, but threw that in there anyway.) so you can't put it into 2wd mode to save gas. I do really average 13 in city only as long as I limit the remote starts to 1 minute or so. My friend has the 4.4 x5 and , according to hime, he gets about 13 or 14 also. I assume they are geared more for acceleration since they try to sell it as a sports suv. BTW, hi to all, this is my first post.
We have a 2006 hoe and a 2007 avalanche. Both seem to get around 13 city and 18 highway. Hoe has about 15000 miles and the avalanche just cracked 1000. Biggest reason the Denali and Escalade dont do as well, as mentioned before, is alot bigger engine and always in 4WD.
