350 engine compatibility
Hey guys I'm currently trying to rebuild my dad's old 73 k10 it was his first truck and always wanted to see it go again but never finished it before he passed. I have the truck just about done but I'm trying to completely build an engine out of scraps I got laying around the yard. Now I do have an engine from a 85 worst case scenario. What I'm wanting to do is build a 02 block. Here's what I got to work with
02 block, crank, pistons
1990 heads, oil pump, cam, flywheel, serpentine brackets and a carbed intake for this year to do away with the tbi. now will all these parts bolt to the 02 block and get me a running engine or do I just need to throw this idea out the window any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Wow. Folks jumped right on helping you out didn't they?
Short answer you probably already got which is yes, all of these parts will bolt on to and in to your block. As long as your crank dampner and flywheel/flex plate ore 350 parts and not 400 parts, you should be fine. Use new bearings and rings, dingleball hone it with some diesel fuel for a lubricant and wash the block clean twice. then wash it two more times. Believe me, it isn't wasted effort to wash it a lot. Make sure everything is clean when you screws it back together, watch your torque readings, take your time and you should be good. SBC are super easy and very interchangeable.

Unless it is a two-barrel Rochester carburetor, which, unlike the Quadrajet, the one and two-barrel Rochester carburetors are A-OK in my book. Otherwise, I'd put a Holley 4-barrel (1st choice) or a Carter/Edelbrock 4-BBL carburetor on your engine. Both are better than the Quadrajet by a long -shot. Trust me, I know after having overhauled and tuned many carburetors in my life. Chevrolet also chose to use the Holley brand on many of their vehicles. I'd go with the Holley 4175 650 CFM electric choke carburetor myself.
