Cobalt This sporty compact was faced with the difficult job of replacing the popular Cavalier, but whether the base model, or the supercharged SS is chosen, is has made for a great replacement.

Default Brighter brake lights

I did this inexpensive mod several weeks ago on a 2006 Cobalt LS Sedanand everything has been working correctly since that time. I had decided toinstall LED lights to replace the three bulbs in theCenter High Mounted Stop Lamp(CHMSL)also called the third brake light. Unfortunately, even after spending a considerable amount of time researching LED bulbs the replacement LED's that I ordered did not fit.Since I had already removed the bulbs for the third brake light I replaced the three 912 bulbs with three 912LL bulbs that have double the life of the standard bulbs.

At this point Ijust decided to use brighter conventional bulbs for the two brake lights (not the third brake light). I replaced the 3057K (also called 3057LL) bulbs with 3457LL bulbs which are 50% brighter when they are in the parking lamp mode and 25% brighter when they are in brake lamp mode. Thenew bulbs came in a pack of two atWal-Mart and the cost was $4.99 plus tax. It took about five minutes to complete this. I have before and after pictures that I can upload. Does anyone know how to post pictures?

Also, the brighter 3457 bulbs do have a shorter life so be sure to use the Long Life version which is either 3457LL or 3457K. This mod was easy and inexpensive and I have not had any problems but if you try this on your car you do so at your own risk.
