Default changing coolant and trans fluid on 2.2l

ok, out balt just got over 100k km and its time for a coolant change and trans fluid change, obiously i dont want to pay someone 250 bucks to do both when i can do it cheaper, but i have a few questions before i do it and please answer only if you know or have done this on a comparable vehicle (HHR, G5) ok as for the trans, is there anything i should be looking for out of the ordinary? does the torque converter have a drain?
and as for the coolant, should it be flushed under pressure? if i dont will it trap air pockets in these engines? im replacing with dex-cool and i am replacing the thermostat at the same time time, thanks for any help given
