Default 2018 Coolant Temp Sensor

Hello all,

I have a 2018 V6 Colorado. I'm having intermittent issues with the coolant temp sensor. Randomly and rarely, when I start the truck the temp gauge stays buried on cool (doesn't move after the first initial gauge movements upon start up). The air conditioner only blows hot air and both radiator fans run up to full-speed. After a few engine start-ups it clears and works normally.

I located the sensor which is in a difficult spot to access (passenger head, front, low in the valley between the heads and obscured by the front of the intake manifold). I cannot get my hands onto the electrical connector to remove it. I feel that if I could get the wiring connector disconnected, I would then be able to get a wrench on the sensor. During my previous attempt at replacing it I gave up as it seemed I might have to take the intake manifold off to get to it with my bare hands.

Anyone tackled this yet? Is there a specialized tool that will allow me to pull the connector without having to take the intake manifold off?

Thanks

You need curved pliers is my guess. There is always a way, you just need to spend some money and use your instincts.

This might help you. Remember to release the red tan before pulling the cable off with the pliers.
