Unhappy Engine starts then suddenly powers off

Hello. To start this is my first post and I have no idea what I am doing. I've seen my husband do this before (on a different site)...but am clueless.

Our 04 Chevy Colorado will start but after two seconds it powers down. I am seeing a strange light on there that I am unable to identify. Just filled it with 4 gallons of gas and the oil is good. Battery seems ok, I see no corrosion.

Can someone PLEASE help me. I do not want to go to dealer and mechanic is ready for the truck on Monday morning, but I am praying I can get this thing running before then.

my best guess is the voltage regulator. Maby it's overpowering everything, or underpowering

Welcome to the forum,

sounds like the engine is starving, the fuel pressure needs to be checked.
Are you seeing the light on the instrument panel? turning the key to the start point but not starting it will cause all the panel lights to illuminate perhaps you can then identify the one that is lighting up..
