Fuel Pump problems?

Fuel Pump problems?
Hello all,
I am brand new to the forum and seeking technical advice. I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe, new body style, 5.3L. It started running very poorly a couple of weeks ago and finially died yesterday. Fuel pressure when I first checked today was 20. I removed the fuel filter and it was very clogged. I replaced with a new filter, the pressure barely registered 5 after the change. I am fairly certain that the fuel pump is shot. I have a full tank of fuel. I was going to drop the tank and replace the pump. I want to remove some fuel from the full tank, but cannot seem to siphon. I can't get a hose to reach the fuel. Any advice?

RE: Fuel Pump problems?
There is probably a check ball to prevent siphoning, and fuel spillage in a rollover. If the pump will if still working a bit, pull the hose off your fuel filter again, put it into a bucket, and cross over the fuel pump relay to activate the fuel pump constantly

RE: Fuel Pump problems?
I don't like your chances. Sometimes you can get the pump running by hitting the tank with a rubber mallet whilst someone else turns the key.
I have replaced mine twice now (last week with a Walbro high vol/pressure pump).
My tank holds 40gal's []
There should be no 'check ball' so you should be able to get a hose into it. Maybe due to the shape of the filler it's difficult?
