Default Trouble with gas tank on 1989 corvete

My son came home one day and he told me something was wrong with the gas tank. I looked at it and it was leaning to the left and the tank had moved . Where you put gas in had dropped down. Will take any help on this thanks.

the tank must vent pressure and vacuum. when the pump runs and fuel is pumped out...air must flow in or the tank collapses. this is your movement. What ever is used to vent the tank is blocked. Not sure what they used in 89. maybe the cap itself. Modern vehicles vent thru the evap cannister and cannister vent valve.

try a gas cap. get the correct one; new from a jobber or dealer. if that doesn't fix it...take it to a shop.

If you hear a hissing noise while pumping gas into your Chevrolet Corvette, you may need to change the Corvettes tank. It is possible that air or gasoline is seeping out of the container of the coupe
