achilds,

Have you been able to have your dealership look into this concern. You can private message us your VIN so we can check the status of your powertrain warranty.

Default just got 2011 cruze back again from dealer

I have a 2011 cruze and like everyone else on this blog has been taking the vehicle back to the dealer on a regular basis due to the lag in shifting, etc. I am tired of getting the same ole story that this is the way the cruze drives. I had it there in July and just took it back again yesterday. Last summer - leak in transmission. Replaced seal and it wasn't even a year old. This time it stalled out twice; twice using the accelerator and no increase in speed; pulled out on a interstate and was almost in an accident due to no power, especially if the air conditioner is on. What are my options here. Use the lemon law; get rid of it, etc.. I have a driving school and teach hundreds of students. I am always helping these new drivers find new vehicles and I am telling them, don't buy a cruze and/or gm product.

Thumbs down So disappointed in Chevy

I am soo disappointed to read all these threads. I have been having the exact same problems as listed here have been to dealer 3 times and they make me seem like I am nuts. First time, nothing wrong, second time....... "the computer is used to the previous driver" and reset computer. Third time after it was making a noise on top of the transmission problems - they said it needed an a/c compressor. Changed the a/c compressor and did not help the a/c or the transmissiono problem. Called the General Manager of Atlantic Chevrolet 3X with no call back. Now I am going to start proceedings with lemon law. I was a huge fan of Chevy's but am so disgusted at their service and lack of customer service. The engine revs up to over 7,000 sometimes before "jolting" forward. God help us if we need to move fast to get out of someones way. It is a real danger. Would just dump the car if I could afford to get another without trading this in. Told dealer I want to trade in and was again ignored.

Default 201 cruz

My last trip to the dealer, they actually replaced the computer module and set everything back to factory settings. So far, that seemed to help. My dealer (Bob Weaver Chev. of Pottsville, PA) also offered to buy back the vehicle or trade the vehicle at a very fair price-Book value. They want me to drive it for awhile to see if this new module helped with the shifting problem. I am going to take it back to see what is happening when I am using the air conditioner. No power and almosts stalls when sitting at a red light. I am not sure if I am going to keep it. In other posts, I see some condensers needed to be replaced. Hope this helps MarineMom.

Default 2011 cruz

I also agree that it is a safety issue. I did not schedule any student driving lessons for several weeks because I feared that due to the delay in shifting and accelerating we would be in an accident.

I have a 2011 cruze I bought in August 2011. Got in the car over the weekend, got about 10 feet and then the car just wouldn't go. Thought it had been bumped into nuetral. It would only go backward. Had it towed to the dealer and they have had it for four days. At noon today I was told it would be several days until I got my car back because they were going to have to tear apart the whole transmission and rebuild it. I told them to do research first because it seems like alot of people have been having this exact problem. By five this evening got a call saying its a shift cylanoid and that its on order and I should have it back tomorrow. I don't know if this will solve everything but lets hope its a better fix than rebuilding an entire transmission.
By the way they have me driving the 2014 Malibu while my cruze is in the shop. The malibu feels so much nicer than my little car, much more power to it.

hello everyone,
until reading through this, I did not relieze the problems going on with the Cruze. I am a ASE master certified, GM gold level certified technician at a GMC, Buick, (ex) Pontiac dealer, with 4 years experience here and 4 years experience at a Chevrolet, Cadillac, (ex) Oldsmobile dealer. The shaking problem you all have been experiencing is usually due to a faulty PCV vent cap on the valve cover, causing the engine to run lean from too much air being drawn in.

kg, I have one on my lift right now with the same problem. I will report back and let you know what I find. This is the first Cruze I have been brought with transmission problems. Most of the Malibus have the same transmission, a 6T40.

My recomendation to you all, when you take it to the dealer, if they say "operating as designed" or "no problem found", tell them you want a tech to ride with you, and if they still say it is a normal operating characteristic, tell them you want them to go for a ride with you in a similar vehicle. That is supposed to be one of our first steps, to compare a vehicle to a same-build vehicle.
