Default 2016 Chevrolet Cruze LT, engine problems?

Hi all. So I got a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze LT when it was 2 years old and had 42k miles on it. When I hit 63k, my car started to shake at idle and reverse, it was reading a misfire code in the first cylinder. The problem persisted after changing the spark plugs and checking the coil packs. I took it to the dealership to get checked and they said I needed a brand new engine and quoted me 8,000 dollars. My thing is, I’ve been driving with it doing this for 1 and 1/2 years and my car has 91k miles now. The problem is still bad, but if it was “need a whole new engine” bad, wouldn’t it have broke by now? I’m not sure if maybe anyone has some advice or experience with this. All help is appreciated

No it might not break, but you've something wrong. If you are okay with the motor oil and coolant looking normal, and not using much top off, I'd get any codes you have in your ECM from Autozone, ect for free.

If I had to take a wild guestimate at this it would be a bad coil pack, as I've seen them go bad with no engine light on the dash. I highly doubt you need a new motor, and you can have a rebuilt one installed for half the price of a dealership shop as well. If the coil pack idea does not work, I'd have an independent tech run a compression test on all 4 cylinders. At that point, you'll have a better idea about your engine misfiring issue..
