i think i messed up
I have a gm inline 6 250 ....and it came out of a boat that sank ...well was taking it down to bare block and they cylinders were rusted at the tops of some of them so i figured that i would push the piston through the bottom and then felt really stupid .....as it is now stuck above the main post .......and the rings have spread out .....what do I do ....please help.

The pistons should come out from the bottom without the crankshaft in the way. If there is room enough, put a piston ring compressor on the rings so that you can push them back up.

Apply a 50/50 mixture of naval jelly and Coke (or similar soda) to the rusted area of the cylinders and let it sit overnight. Use a scotch brite pad soaked in oil to remove as much of the rust as possible. If needed, remove the ridge from the top of the cylinder with a ridge reamer. Then (as previously mentioned) remove the rings from the piston and push it out through the top of the cylinder.
