2011 equinox 2.4 tracing a failure to start?
Ok so I have a 2011 equinox 2.4, I had someone who said they knew what they were doing(didnt) attempt to run some wiring for an amp through the firewall. he pulled on the boot(while the car was POWERED) and everything shut down.(he also tied an inline convertor into a red and black set of wires located by where the subwoofer in the pass rear would be connected to a wire harness that has i believe blue and green? wires on it stating those red and black wires were to the sub for "Noise cancelling"
at first it wouldn't start(it now starts for 3 seconds and cuts off)
obd2 port stopped getting power
no sound from radio
won't shift into any gear
lights flicker
I have checked all fuses and relays - good
I have check the grounds using a wiring diagram all look good( battery is at 12.6 volts, each ground was reading 12.6v as well on multimeter)
anti theft light not illuminated
when I wiggle the main harness going out of the firewall is when i get a good 3 second run, when not wiggling and moved slightly I get no start response.
of course when i google the harness and look through the wiring diagrams i have, i dont know what it is called and google brings up crap that isnt it.
any ideas?(and it would be alot easier if the DLC port was working)

undo everything he did, and start from there.
But it sounds like drilled through your harness or damaged it in some way.

and that's part of the problem, he didn't drill anything, he just grabbed the boot that the harness runs through the firewall from the interior to the engine compartment and pulled it.
I cant find that wire or the diagram for it anywhere (part of it splits off and plugs into another part that goes behind the instrument cluster with one of those big flip clips that lock it into place.

either way, he damaged it, and you need to repair the broken wires.

pulled all the tape and wrap away, no broke wires.
but interestingly enough a new symptom
nothing out of it, even the start for a few seconds then die UNTIL i hit the power button on the radio then all the electronics come to life, and it will start (then die a few seconds later)
so it made me lean towards security, but light not on, and I dont think i can use the relearn trick because the ignition switch gets stuck going to the off position to do it...
