Default 06 heat blowing Luke warm

Had a check engine po128 code come up. Thermostat gasket was all chewed up. Replaced thermostat and sensor with acdelco parts.

06 equinox replaced the thermostat and engine coolant sensor. Refilled system and burped the lower and upper radiator hose. When turning heat on gauge goes just over half way. I have thermometer in vehicle and still shows it’s blowing at. 65 degrees. Should I change the radiator cap.

Let car sit for bout 15 min and cut it off and the radiator fans ran for another 10. Is this normal?

thanks,
Ap4u06

If it's a 6 cylinder there are bleeders to let air out. You will not get any heat if air is in system. Don't know about the 4 cyl/

does the rad cap fit on a surge tank or on a radiator. can't see a bad rad cap being the problem.

There is only one way to fill antifreeze and it’s through a container on right side of vehicle behind battery and behind wiper fluid filler

There are 1 or 2 above the engine.

I have defrost so not thinking my heater core is bad? Should I presume this is correct? Gonna drive it this afternoon when I get home. Any thing else that could be wrong that I may have overlooked or I didn’t mention. Thanks

I still think the heater core is bad. FWIW, I'm fairly certain our heater core is going bad too. The heat output isn't as good as it used to be and the air coming out of the vents is just starting to smell like coolant. There have also been some videos posted on YouTube within the past few years that pertain to replacing the heater core on models of this vintage. Coincidentally, the GM dealership I work at also just had a job approved to have the heater core replaced in a 2008 Equinox. The customer's complaint was lack of heat. After checking it over, the tech determined the heater core was plugged.
