I fix equinox head gaskets. Done 12 so far.
I did an 08 3 yrs ago. Kid had it so we been driving it.
gasket blew around xmas. For 2nd time?
both gaskets had failed. Seems odd.
has had occasional rattle that goes away when warm. Piston slap?
after I put new gaskets on last week it has full time rattle.
motor seems off. Sluggish, no pep.
I expect it to run ok, initially with new gaskets.
motor was just tore apart. Everything looked ok.
is it timing chain? I rebuilt all lifters. They all looked ok. Good rollers.
cam lobes looked ok. No scoring.
what’s next? I’m thinking new motor.

car is good shape. Good tires. 170k

i took each lifter apart. Did I miss a bad roller?
