Default 2008 equinox studdering when accelerating

Hi, my wife and I bought a used 2008 equinox with 85,000 miles about one year ago, and on our drive home I noticed it would studder when the accelerator reached a certain point, and it has never really quit since, it happens almost every time the accelerator is depressed and reached that certain point. I would say it's about 3/8s of the way down when it happens. I just changed all 6 spark plugs yesterday. And have done a diagnostic check and it said "misfire in cylinder 5". Could it be my coil pack?

Which engine do you have, 3.4L or 3.6L?

you need to change the spark plug wire too. the wire will be carbon tracked from all the previous misfiring.
typically, when a coil pack goes bad, you will lose 2 cylinders because the ignition system is waste spark; 1 coil for 2 cylinders.

Replacing the coil pack is not necessary. However, GM published a TSB a while back that basically says the wires should always be replaced whenever the spark plugs are replaced in the 2005-2009 Equinox/Torrent 3.4L. I recommend following that advise. I'm not partial to any particular brand of spark plug wires. Just get the premium offering from the local parts store and you should be fine.

What brand/type (i.e AC Delco Iridium) of spark plugs did you install?

That's what I was hoping you'd say.

Those look like a good choice. They appear to be comparable to OEM.
