I got the car back on Saturday, and today the Brake fluid low came on. Since I was out, and the car was just serviced, I took it by the dealer and they said that I now need a new brake booster, and master cylinder as the brake fluid is being pushed into the vacuum system. In a matter of 2 weeks I have needed 3-4 thousand dollars worth of work. The compressor happened to be covered by an extended warranty, and the chain covered by powertrain. Unfortunately the other work is not covered. At the rate this car is going I will be broke in another month. I think it is safe to say I won't get another Chevy. (I have about 80,000 miles)

Jeepstyx,

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been having with your 2010 Equinox. I would be more than happy to look into your situation. Could you please private message me your VIN, name, address, and name of the GM certified dealership you have been working with? Thank you.

So here's how ridiculous Chevy's "service" is. Got the fuel pump replaced and paid a grand for it. Problem still persists. Took it back to dealership yesterday 2.5 hours away and left it overnight. Vehicle has 2 fuel pumps in it. They replaced the other fuel pump. It was under powertrain warranty according to them. So they fixed the one first that was a thousand dollars and not the one that was still under warranty? I know they won't, but I feel that I should be refunded some of that money due to the fact that they chose the more expensive option first. This is exactly why I'm heavily considering trading in my Equinox and doing no further business with Chevrolet. This is just a bad business model, as far as I'm concerned.

I was told to consider I had been short changed at my oil change so I went with it. Two months later same problem. Hmmmmm So they replaced my timing chain, and we started the oil consumption test. Two months later I was down 2 quarts of oil again but not part of the oil consumption because io went somewhere other than dealerfor my oil to be changed. Two months later back at the dealer for yet another new timing chain. Sweet. In the mean time I continue to complain about the flapnoise as I have never heard another car do this,and continue to be dismissed as normal.
It also slams the transmission upon the up shift. Somehow the service tech cant get the car to replicate the issue. So it must be how I drive. Then I get the letter that says hey come in we need to change out the oil sensor monitorsoftware or some crap.. Uhhhh duh so we have established this honing load of crap I call a car drinks gas like a 1980 ...lynx with a bad head gasket. No joke I had one. So since normal people dont think they should have to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles lets make sure they know to get the oil changed more frequently.

I get my car back from the dealership on wednesday after the system upgrade and the oil change. Oh guess what, you will be shocked the oil level was low.( Duh the engine is burning the oil and GM knows this but is hoping we all are out of warranty before we figure out they are peeing on out legs and its not really raining). It now drives worse than ever. So back to the shop it goes, where I am told it is normal. No reving to 7000rpm before accelerating in my neighborhood accompanied by a high pitch whine is NOT NORMAL!!!! On Thursday I was giving a claim number and assigned a District specialist who I am still waiting to call me back. Awesomness. Today Monday 4/1 I was told by theservice department they are awaiting a call from the engineering department as they are not sure what is wrong.. Hmmm let me help GM cast a a 2.4 ecotech engine with incompatible metals, installed them in cars and have been bandaging them in hopes people buy the line of crap. The piston cylynders are most like showing signs of damage. The transmissions slip and the throttle body units are defective. This is all known and proven in the service bulittens which they release. There is a protecall for engine replacement and transmission replacement after you the consumer jump through 10 firey hoops. why? They know this was a screw up on thier behalf. Now I wait. The bright light in all of this is I have a loaner car from the dealership while we wait this out.
I simply want them to buy the car back.

Another angry equinox owner here. Bought my 2010 LT Fwd new in March of 2010. The engine has always made a raspy knocking sound since I owned it. Brought it to the dealer soon after i bought and got the same " no codes it's just normal" ya right!!. They did fix the pinging issue but that was all.

Just recently searched the web for issues regarding the equinox and was shocked to see all of the complaints. When I read about the oil consumption I immediately checked my oil and the dip stick was dry... Yikes it was down at least 2 quarts

Brought the nox into the dealer the next day and I am now doing an oil consumption test. I was told if I am down 1 quart at 2000 miles I will have a new engine installed. That's great but will this really fix the problem if they put the same engine in? Has the problem been fixed for these engines in the 2011's and up? Would love to hear from someone who has had the engine replaced to see if the problem has been fixed

I still don't have a great feeling about this vehicle. This was my first GM product in over 20 yrs and based upon this situation it may be my last ... Engine replacement really!!!!

Gill-man, I am one of those that has had the engine replaced. So far it has been fine as far as the engine is concerned. I have about 10K miles on it since and have had the oil changed once. When they replaced it they used the synthetic blend oil and I used the same at the oil change. So far...

I also had not bought a 'new' Chevy(GM) product since '78. That car, a Camaro Z28, was not a good experience either. It had life threatening problems from the start (Gas leak, steering gear failure) and I swore to never buy another GM. Should have listened to myself!

My Nox is probably the poorest quality car I have ever bought. At 70K miles I had to replace both front wheel bearing/hub assemblies which are not covered by the powertrain warrantee. Funny, in 2009 they were covered but not in 2010! Various misc. problems with interior parts either breaking or prematurely wearing out. This will be my last GM product. Good luck with your Nox...

Avis... Thanks for responding. Glad to hear the new engine is no longer knocking and raspy...and not using oil.
We typically hold onto our vehicles for 10+ years but with the recent issue with the engine and all the other complaints people have been reporting I don't feel confident this truck will last that long without a major repair cost.

Check out this fact: I did a search for TSB's on the 2010 Equinox and a 2010 CRV
Equinox = 70
CRV = 5

I believe there may be a CRV in my future

NO problem is not solved. I even had a district representative come out and drive the car. He told me thats how it is supposed to shift. Ummm I have been driving for 24 years. I am sure I know what a slipping transmission feels like but apparently I know nothing.
I am now in oil consumption test take two. Apparently while undergoing the test no one else is allowed to change your oil. So its a bi-weekly visit to the dealership for me. Huge surprise I am down one quart of oil every 1000 miles. Have been in 3 times and this is consistent. Was told by my worthless GM represenative Mercedes that i must do this for 12000 miles. Are you people serious? This is the worst car ownership expereince of my life.
It gets better I was told I would be given top dollar for my trade if I bought another GM because presumably there is nothing wrong with the car. So I investigated trading it in. Ummm yeah this was a joke, and the help to buy another vehicle was $500 off a NEW car. This is comical. Unfortunately I am stuck like chuck and unwilling to carry negative equitity with me into a new loan so I will attempt to wait this out. I wanted a cadillac but am not sure if I will ever buy another GM.

I have a mind to file a claim against gm..I think its a cover up and there is something terribly wrong with this car. Gm wont get the message that you cant sell a faulty car and letvall the dealers blow smoke up our butts. IF I HEAR HAVE YOU TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER..ONE MORE TIME I WILL SCREAM..I NEED MY CAR FOR WORK..CALL IN AND THEY SAY..WE CAN GET YA IN IN THREE WEEKS..REALY..I AM FED UP AND I WILL GET SATISFACTION. They wont help you do anything GM/Chevy are liars and these Chevrolet Customer Care can't or wont help you do anything. I absolutely hate this SUV, I was told I could trade it in for a new truck but otherwise they can't help me. The AC went out and is not covered the trasmission is slipping and I am the one that is crazy. I swear I will never buy another Chevy product since they don't know how to treat good customers. Yes the replaced my engine and ohpedsnurse they only made me go in 3 times before they replaced the engine so I would try another dealership or go make a scence inside the sales department on a busy Saturday so all the customers can see how crappy Chevy will treat them. Wish yall lots of luck with your own POS and I pray mine will hold up long enough so I can buy another car.
