Goodbye
Wife's 2014 Equinox w/2.4L 190K miles began running very rough Monday morning. Could hear a metallic sound as it ran. Reduced Power message displayed. Limped it to local mechanic. He took one listen and said the engine was toast and not worth repairing. Sad because my wife really liked the vehicle. We bought it in December 2018 when it had 67K miles. Limped it to Carmax and traded it for a 2016 Toyota Rav4.
This was our first Chevrolet in 30 years. We have owned mostly MoPar products and one Ford and never had an engine failure. I had three Chevrolet's prior to the MoPars - 1968 Camaro, 1979 Monza and a 1979 El Camino.
I'm not complaining to GM as it was passed the original warranty when we bought it and any warranty we would have purchased when we bought it would have expired long ago.
I won't say I'll never buy another Chevrolet, but I will steer clear of any GM with the 2.4L Ecotec engine. My research shows many customers with 2.4L problems.
Might be a while before I consider another GM product. Sorry GM, you had one shot and you blew it.

Found out a friend of mine has a 2013 Equinox that was beginning to have the same symptoms though his wasn't idling rough. But it was making some odd noises from the engine and oil consumption was up. Traded it for a '21 Toyota Highlander.
