Default New to the Equinox world and having trouble!

My 2007 Equinox has the stabilitrak light and traction control light on, as well as the ABS light. The newest addition, however, is the "Brake!" light. It started off being an intermittent problem with stabilitrak and traction control. It would only come on after a while of driving. Then the ABS light joined them. Now they are on all the time.

My research said that it could be a lot of different issues, but the one most people were suggesting was the EGR. First, I'm not sure where exactly that is located, but more importantly, I haven't noticed any performance issues. I'm not sure if the EGR valve could have an issue and not affect the performance though.

Yesterday was the first time the "Brake!" light was on though. The check engine light has not come on at all. The Brake! light was not on at all today though. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it!!! This is my wife's daily driver and I would like her vehicle to be in top condition!

Check your brake fluid level. If it is low you should have your brake pads inspected. Low brake fluid is an indicator of worn pads. If it is really low you may need to add a little fluid.

It would be a good idea to have the vehicle scanned for troublecodes to see why the ABS light is on. That will point you in the right direction. I wouldn't replace anything until doing that. The ABS light on means the ABS is disabled which subsequently means Stabilitrak and Traction Control are also disabled because they rely on ABS components to function properly.

Same thing just happened to my 2008 Nox. Took it to AutoZone and their scanner said it was L wheel sensor. Replaced bearing assy. and corrected problem. ABS light stayed on but after 20 cycles of ign. went off. My scanner only reads engine codes so be sure they have one reading brake codes. Dealer wants 4-$500 or DIY for $150 in parts. Also read on this forum it could be cable from brg. assy. Good luck

if you don't have a check engine light it won't be egr related, get the codes and it'll be easier to pick a direction to go.
