Oil question

Oil question
I have a 2021 Chevy Equinox AWD LT. I called the dealership and they told me that they use the Dextros 1 oil...but stated that it is the same as mobile 1? I know both are full synthetic.
The dealership said it would be $88 with tax to do the oil change.
My question is can I use any full synthetic oil if I do the oil change myself or do I have to use the mobile1? Seems hard to fine dextros 1 where I am.
Thanks.

Stick to the Dexos oil (no 't'. *Dextrose is a sweetener) if you want to maintain your warranty.
You want to make sure the oil meets the specifications the manufacturer has set out for your engine.
Dexos should be really easy to find. Any parts store should have it since all GM cars take it. I get it at Costco for the best deal.
"full synthetic" is just marketing jingo. It's doesn't mean anything. Specifications are what matter.

why don't change? 0-20is pretty thin for hot desert area, no winter really...or does it matter?
It matters. Not only is the oil doing the job of lubricating and cooling, it is also acting as a hydraulic fluid in your engine. Stick to the factory recommended specification. You can choose any 0w-20 from THIS LIST

No matter where you are, the oil still needs to warm up to start lubricating. The quicker the better. 0w20 flows better at startup than 5w20.
You manufacturer has specified this thin oil because that's what it needs for the various hydraulic systems.
Your owner's manual does not say anywhere that you should change the oil viscosity according to your location.
Always follow the manual. To the letter.
Forget everything that dealers tell you.
