Default OIL question

Hi there,
I had a 2016 Chevy Malibu with the 1.5L turbo engine. I heard about a recall or service bulletin because of some piston issues!!!
I recall that one attempt to fix or help was to use full synthetic Mobil one oil only, which the dealership confirmed and rightly carried out.
OK - my 2019 Equinox has the 1.5 Turbo engine and shouldn't this use the Mobil one...…...just in case? My dealership are not aware of this in the Equinox and therefore use full synthetic Dexos one...…….
thoughts and comments welcome.

You can't go wrong with the type oil recommended in the owners manual. But, if you feel safer using synthetic by all means do so. Either way if the engine decides to take a break, your good.

Hi there,
I think you miss my point: if this is the same 1.5L turbo has the piston issue been solved? If it still has issues shouldn't we be using Mobil 1 fully synthetic? I agree - read the manual but I hoped someone could clarify my question.
Have a great day.

the service bulletin you refer to is only for malibu 20016 -17 models years and does not apply to a 2019 nox.

in the tsb it states dexos 1 should be used and if not available mobil 1 is acceptable
