Part Question

Would anybody be so kind to tell me what this part is, and what it's purpose is? Thanks in advance.

It looks like a vacuum canister of some type to me. What vehicle is this on? I have an 07 Equinox with the 3.4 engine and don't see anything like that on mine.

Look again, there is one on our 2007 w/3.4L. It is way too small to be a vacuum canister. The canister is located in the rear of the Equinox like most other newer GM vehicles. The part in question is a check valve. It's purpose is pretty self explanatory. A check valve is a one way valve that allows whatever passes through it to go though it but prevents backflow. It is part of the EVAP system in this case.
