Default 1500 or 2500?

looking for a used 2500 awd van, either passenger or cargo to carry dirt bikes and sleep in at the races. I always prefer a HD truck, just in case I want to tow something, but found a nice clean 2006 1500 awd for a decent price, I know 90% of the time I'll only be hauling 1 or 2 bikes, should I keep looking for a 2500 or settle for the 1500?

Also is there anyway to lift the suspension a little on either? they sit so low to the ground, I would like a little more clearance.

Thanks,

Andy

The 2500 is gonna be bigger, have a bigger engine(in some cases 4.3 V6 vs. 4.8L V8) have more towing capacity, carrying capacity, stronger brakes, higher ground clearance.

I'm looking at an 04 1500 passenger and an 03 2500 cargo, both awd, ground clearance seems to the the same, same engine (v8), same wheels (6 bolt), brakes seem to be the same. Someone told me that in the vans GM doesn't change anything but the rear springs until you get up to the 3500 series? can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

have it narrowed down to 3 vans:

2004 1500 8 passenger van with 99k $7,000
2003 2500 very clean cargo with 57k $9500
2003 2500 stripped clean but used cargo with 110k $5500

of these I like the 1500 the best, but worry about towing capacity should I get a travel trailer. I would like to know the real differences between the 1500 and 2500 AWD vans, is it just the rear leaf springs as someone suggested?

I am also looking for an Express as a Motovan (bikes), however I need the 2500 as the 1500 doesn't come extended. I wouldn't consider a short van because I need the extra length for a partition and sleeping area up front, and still have plenty of room for the bikes.

I also debated back and forth on cargo vs passenger and decided on cargo because I will probably want to put up cabinets or shelves, tough on a passenger window van. Plus the security factor. Now I jst need to find a loaded cargo, which is not easy..
