Hello, first time posting because of first time problems.
My 83 g10 manual transmission is currently sitting outside a relative's house, where I had it parked for a few days. The parking brake is stuck in the "on", depressed position and the release isn't working. Any tricks you guys know of to troubleshoot this? I'd rather not cut the cable and rebuild. I've adjusted a handbrake before, it was a matter of tightening one bolt. Just want to get an idea of what i'm dealing with so I know what tools to bring over (which is a ways across town). Normally don't have to park on any crazy or even moderate hills, so I'm not averse to a solution that requires parking in gear.

Can you not look up under the dash and see where the release cas come away from the brake mech? You should be able to manually unlock the pedal from under the dash.
